Welcome to DyerConversations! My father once told me, ”Be a life-long learner.” My name is Billy Dyer and I want you to take that journey with me. On my channel you will experience the journey of being a life-long learner with me by acquiring the skills to think more critically, investigate truth claims, challenge your own biases, and navigate through all the false information out there. That means we need to be able to abandon long held ideas if the evidence points to a better position. In today’s culture, speaking the truth is risky business. People like to hear what already affirms their current beliefs, not necessarily what is true. Therefore, join me in the search for truth so we can draw conclusion that are Beyond A Reasonable Doubt!! Are you disciplined enough to challenge your thinking? Hit that SUBSCRIBE button to stay up to date on all the latest DyerConversations.

Saturday Apr 10, 2021
Saturday Apr 10, 2021
Ted Wright is a Christian, archaeologist, professor, and apologist. He started a ministry called Epic Archaeology a few years ago to help bring the study and findings of archaeology to the normal man in a common sense way that we can all understand. In this episode Ted gives three exclusive details he has never been disclosed!!! He also gives some great specific examples of how archaeology illuminates the Bible in ways you probably have never heard of. If you want to see certain stories of the Bible in ways you never have before, then don't miss this episode.

Critical Race Theory Explained
Wednesday Mar 31, 2021
Wednesday Mar 31, 2021
What is Critical Race Theory and where did it come from? In this episode I will explain the philosophy behind CRT. We will also discuss how the academic camp that CRT comes from is currently crumbling because it runs completely contrary to good academic research and is out of touch with reality. You will not understand Critical Race Theory unless you understand the philosophical foundation that it is built on.

How to Transition Leadership
Sunday Mar 28, 2021
Sunday Mar 28, 2021
Transitioning from one leader to the next is always a difficult task that takes a lot of planning and proper execution. Mark Coffey served Mechanicsville Church of Christ in VA for around 15 years and knew he was going to retire. Instead of leaving the church empty-handed, he implemented a proper transition plan between himself and the guy who was going to be stepping into the lead minister role. Check out this clip to hear Mark talk about that transition and one key pitfall to watch out for so you don't make a big mistake.

Why Critical Race Theory is Important
Sunday Mar 14, 2021
Sunday Mar 14, 2021
Critical Race Theory is a hot button topic in our culture. Some Christians support it, some reject it, and some don't even know what it is. In this episode I will give you my preliminary thoughts on CRT and touch on why the philosophical foundation of CRT is crucial to understand if you are going to objectively examine it.
This podcast series is based on a semester long research project I undertook in the fall of 2020. I read books, articles, blogs, websites, and watched lectures both in support and in criticism of CRT. Each reference in the podcast will be cited below in this description.

Should You Believe Genesis?
Sunday Feb 21, 2021
Sunday Feb 21, 2021
How do we know we can trust the book of Genesis is reliable? The Bible claims Moses wrote it, but is that true? In this episode I will evaluate two points people bring up to say we shouldn't believe Moses wrote Genesis. One of those points is that Genesis tells the same stories multiple times and therefore, there must be multiple authors behind Genesis and not just Moses. Upon examination we realize these points are baseless and we can absolutely trust that Moses wrote Genesis.

Are there Errors or Mistakes in the Bible?
Monday Feb 15, 2021
Monday Feb 15, 2021
One popular claim among atheists is that the Bible presents different pictures of God that are contradictory? What passages in the Bible do they refer to and how do Christians respond? Some people wonder if Israel worshipped one god (monotheism) or many gods (polytheism). In this video, I will explain the arguments some skeptics present and show you why they are wrong about the Bible. Finally, I will explain to you why the Bible presents God differently but is still harmonious, not contradictory.

One Way to Know the Bible is Reliable
Tuesday Feb 09, 2021
Tuesday Feb 09, 2021
Have you ever wondered if you can trust the reliability of the Bible? How do we really know who wrote it and has it been changed or corrupted? In this episode I'm going to give you one way to know the Bible is reliable. We are going to take a look at how investigating language, grammar, and styles of writing can give us confidence that the Law of Moses was actually written by Moses. Further, we will take a look at the style of language used in the Law of Moses as it describes the "Making of a Covenant" to show why we should expect different styles of language to be used by one author.

Why God Has Multiple Names
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Critical Scholars deny Moses wrote the Pentateuch based on Five Pillars. In this episode we will examine Pillar 1; The Use of Different Names for God. These scholars argue that the display of God being referred to by different names in the Pentateuch is evidence of multiple sources behind the text. But this theory fails when we actually apply it to the text of Scripture. Find out how by watching this episode.
